The Mustard Seed is a coffee lounge
close to the town centre which has been given to the fellowship for
a peppercorn rent for 7 years. It is decorated in modern style, and
is kept warm to give us an attractive coffee lounge. All drinks
served are “fair-trade” products.
For our opening on Mondays the Mustard Seed is designated as a Christian healing
room. We expect everyone visiting on Mondays to be coming for prayer or bringing
a friend for prayer. Our opening hours on Monday are 10am to 4pm
The staff are all Christians who have experienced God’s love changing their
lives. We want to share that love with all who come, and we serve everyone who
ventures in. In the time since we first opened among other things, this has
resulted in two homeless people being settled in flats in the town.
We are not
in competition with the tourist cafes around, and to
demonstrate that, it has been our practice to close over
lunch. Further we do not provide food, except for biscuits,
and neither do we charge for drinks. We rely on donations.
We do use
the cafe as a base to go out to the town when we are doing
specific evangelistic outreach.
Hours of opening for Tuesdays to Fridays are as follows: Tuesday to Thursday
mornings 10am to noon, and Thursday and Friday afternoons 2pm to 4pm.
