In the BEGINNING….
The Way Christian Fellowship began back in 1990 with just two couples and their children worshipping the Lord together in the home of Gordon and Gill Tanner. With the growth in numbers over the years, there have been a few moves, but the church family has been firmly settled in Downs Close, the former Magistrates Court building, since 2000.
The property provides a comfortable meeting area, a café with well-equipped kitchen, combined office, lounge and ministry room plus a Kingz Kidz room and storage. In addition to a large car parking area, we also have a developing garden in which to relax, its most recent addition being a gazebo.
We have been an Ichthus-linked church for 30 years (Ichthus Christian Fellowship was founded in 1974 under the leadership of Roger and Faith Forster). Recently, after much soul searching, our Leadership Team felt that it was time to look for a more locally based supporting ministry. Our formal separation from Ichthus has been most amicable and we move on with their blessing, and with our grateful thanks to Roger, Faith and their team.
Simultaneously, without us at The Way being aware of it, God was speaking to an experienced couple living in Norfolk to take up a wider role, so ….
In June 2021….
Jonathan and Paige Squirrell are the founders of Kingdom Breakthrough, an apostolic and prophetic ministry which encourages and strengthens followers of Jesus. Based in Stalham, they have the desire to equip and release God’s people right across Norfolk and East Anglia.
Over three decades God has been taking them on such a journey. In 2021 they celebrate 32 years of marriage as well as 32 years ministering together, seeing lives changed by God’s grace and power. That’s what they desire not only for us but also for everyone they encounter, because Father God loves to take ordinary people and do amazing things through them.
“We long to see this type of army raised up and our heart is to equip and release people into their God-given purpose. It’s not hard to understand how service comes from a place of worship, intimacy, identity and authority. This enables us all to thrive and not just to survive. We believe that we are following a God who not only promises much – He also delivers.
“We live in truly unprecedented times. Where is God in it all? What about the church? Is the Bible true? What is the point? Questions are just as important as answers. We are sometimes so destination-focussed we miss out on the reality that the journey is often what counts. So, let’s journey together, discovering some answers along the way, and agreeing that some things only God will ever understand.”
The Way Christian Fellowship is delighted that Jonathan and Paige are here to serve and support us.
